A few months ago my neighbor said to me, “I’m going to plant sunflowers in our joined flower/plant bed since the pineapple plants died”

I told her she was crazy, “They are NOT going to look right there. They’ll be hideous “ I said…

Throughout the last few weeks of I watched in fear how ugly and colorless the plants were growing into be… when we had a a week with no rain, I watched those ugly, boring green flowerless grow all the while snickering to myself thinking I was right. It had been a whole 2 weeks of NO RAIN and those “things” we’re starting to wilt!

As I pulled into my driveway at home from a long day at work the other day, I looked over at my neighbors colorless plants she planted and thought I had spots in my eyes for a moment.

Something was happening here I thought to myself. I got out of my car and walked over to that patch of green and I saw a tiny hint of yellow!!! Could it be!!! Could those hideous plants finally be blooming into an amazing cascade of sunflowers??? Nahhhh the yellow I saw was a dead leaf on those plants…

A week went by and I was caught up in working and graduations and not even noticing anymore about those flowers…. Until yesterday that is. This time when I got out of my car I walked over again and smiled with the masterpiece that stood towering above me. They are at least 7ft tall‼️ I leaned in for a closer look and saw way up on the tippy top flower a bumblebee getting intoxicated with the pollen from the sunflower. I must have looked like the crazy neighbor now because I stood there just walking around the statuesque plants like I was in a museum… taking pictures of each one’s impeccable designed and unique flower patterns.

I walked back into my house and even looked out the window to see if it’s previously hideous view had changed much. When I finished staring out the window I concluded that indeed it changed. It had changed so much that I wasn’t even aware that each day it was becoming a front yard masterpiece that not only the owner could appreciate, but anyone who took the time to walk or drive by. To those who took a few minutes to stop and appreciate the minuet moments of positivity and beauty it offers now.

The struggle that it went through to become the tangible from the tiny seed it once was.

Not everything in life is what it appears like in the current moment.. Sometimes it takes a few storms to become something so cherished and respected. Never give up on yourself, understand that with every drop of pain you have, it’s just watering your growth and it pushes you to become stronger and able to withstand those rougher times of life.

So shine bright and stand tall, your still growing….
