Dear Beautiful, I for one know all about getting knocked down. That feeling you get after trying your hardest only for that thing to knock you to your knees. It’s devastating and hurtful! Something that my 17 year old son said to me brought me a new outlook and renewed encouragement. He said “Mom, there’s only things that you can do. Give up or get up!” Wow my mind was blown away with his words! As a wrestler, he says those are your options and any wrestler with passion NEVER GIVES UP! We had such a good time in Arizona. My baby enjoyed seeing where her sister Tekerya graduated from. And so photogenic! This year will be filled with emotions and over the next few months my youngest and I have to solidify our next step while my son in the next few days, signs a letter of intent to college in the engineering program and becomes part of the collegiate wrestling community. My heart is filled with beautiful memories and I have a lump in my throat knowing he will be so far away from me. If I’ve learned anything in my life it is that I’m a good mother, sure I’ve mistakes but my 3 children are incredible people and I’m proud of them all! I’m so darn proud of Hakeem! He went undefeated at the Yulee Invitational 9-0 His first match today got this “prize” and with this moms blessing, he held his own and wrestled all 4 matches like a champion! He told me in the beginning, “ Mom my goal this year is to make it to states and enter college as a wrestler “ Many don’t understand the heart of a wrestler nor the dedication,perseverance,and HEART. Don’t worry now that he conquered each opponent this weekend, we are on our way per the doctor’s orders to the ER for much needed CT scan and nope they don’t do any drainage of the eye so we shall see . NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER! He’s my champion, he’s my son!!
